In a classroom setting, our leveled books can be used in small group instruction, called Guided Reading. The purpose of Guided Reading is to support students in reading at their instructional level. A child's instructional reading level is the reading level at which a child is not yet able to read independently but has enough background knowledge and skills to read at that level with some support from the teacher.
Thus, when our books are used in Guided Reading groups, a book introduction from the teacher is necessary. In this introduction, the teacher gives the child information and teaching points that the child will need to be able to read the book.
However, during online teaching, the videos below should be used by the child before reading the book. Each video is a book introduction that gives the child the support s/he will need to be able to read the book with comprehension and later on, independently.
